So… here I am, sitting at the airport. It’s eerily empty, the airport, just me and my janitorial friend, and a whole lot of passengers dressed up as empty seats (see image below).

Anywho, I’m very excited (I think), to be doing whatever it is that I’m doing, because it’s a sign that I’m doing something different, out of the ordinary, off the path, and that in and of itself means something to me.

At least, it means enough to do crazy things in its name.

Some background here – I’m headed to Copenhagen from Chicago, have a two hour layover there, and then I fly to Munich. I’ll be staying in Munich for three days (as of this writing), and am actually looking forward to it immensely.

Anyways, they’re calling final boarding for my flight to Copenhagen (oops), so I better dash. That would be a pretty poor showing, missing my first flight…

So, I’m on the plane and, long story short, there’s no one here. Ok, there are a few people, but my whole row is empty. I have more leg room than I ever had, and I think I’ll ask if they might be able to squeeze me into first class, or at least business…

I talked to a stewardess (or flight attendant for those socially proper readers), and she said that she has never seen a flight like this before. Granted, she’s just started working this flight time, but she thinks it’s because there are school holidays going on in Denmark, and elsewhere in Scandanavia. It also could be because it’s a slow Monday night.

They’ll be serving a meal shortly, and I heard that its chicken in a cream sauce. Not sure I’ll be able to eat that, but we’ll see. And I don’t mean because of my wisdom tooth extraction. Chicken in a cream sauce? But I digress. I’ve surprised myself before.

It really is a scarily empty flight. I almost can’t believe it. This is, most assuredly, the way to fly. Not that I don’t like people, its just, I don’t always like flipping the coin on them. You never know who you might end up with. Or next to. Or under.

I’m sitting here writing, while also thinking about which cell-phone plan to purchase once I get to Germany. I don’t really need it immediately upon disembarking, but still. Not sure.

I looked up the way to get from Munich International Airport to my hostel (called Wombat Hostel for anyone interested) earlier today, and took screenshots of the directions, so I should be fine even without Google Maps (my lifeline in most navigational situations). It’s a super easy trip, just hop on the S-bahn and ride. Then get off at the right stop and walk the rest of the way.

I haven’t really planned out a ton of things to do in Munich. I’ll look up a best things to do in Munich list and see all your standard attractions, and I really want to walk around some of their outdoor markets and get a cheap brat, but other than that, not sure. I hear there are some good day trips so I guess I’ll take a look at those.

Tomorrow, or maybe Wednesday, is supposed to be cold and rainy, so I think I’d like to find a nice coffee shop to sit in and get some writing done. Maybe people-watch a little. I’ve heard it’s an age old past-time in Munich.

I’m glad to be safely on the flight, I was really concerned about the weight of my bags. The carry-on bag limit was 18 pounds, and my bag was hovering somewhere around the 31 pound mark. Probably becauase of all the food in there.

I called Scandanavian Air this morning, and the lady I spoke with said that as long as the bag doesn’t look funky, it should be fine. They don’t really weight them. And sure enough, they didn’t! I tried to act all frazzled and confused at check-in so they wouldn’t question me at all, and I don’t know, I guess it worked? All I remember is giving her my passport, weighing my other bag, and then I was running, running towards freedom, towards safety, towards the huge security line…

?

The food is here, and I don’t know about the chicken, but the rest of it looks great. There’s a roll, and a small salad with a slice of, ham maybe, and some gelatinous bulb of a yellowish cream substance…

Now that I’m describing it, I’m not sure what I thought was so great looking about it. There is a brownie, so that might be it.

Update, it really wasn’t all bad, the ham turned out to be roast beef and the chicken was pretty decent. Overall, can’t complain.

Anyways, that’s really all I think I have to say in this post.

I’d like to give a shoutout to my fans, I couldn’t do any of this without you. If you liked this post, please, consider leaving a hefty tip – coffee isn’t as cheap as it used to be.
